Free March Workshop, Pod People Reunion and More!

2017 Lantern Festival, ©Elizabeth Sanford

What a treat to have a mini reunion with the work of Beth Reitmeyer and Chip Boles, 2 of my fellow Pod People from last summer’s Modular Art Pods Event at OZ Arts! We all had pieces in the Hall of Lanterns at the Nashville Lantern Festival earlier this month; it was fun seeing 2 of my lanterns tucked in-between some of Beth’s Geodes and having “Steve” point the way to my 6-foot lantern at the end of the hall.

Interested in learning something new in March? I’m teaching a free workshop called The Secret Side of Books at the Green Hills Library on March 4, a 6-week watercolor class starting March 5 at Plaza and a Practical Color Theory workshop on March 11. Mystery Technique #56, Part 2

There’s a little different twist to the Mystery Technique this time – it’s the same technique as last month on a very different surface! Last month, I used Fabriano Artistico 140 lb. hot press watercolor paper; this month I decided to see what would happen on Arches 300 lb. rough watercolor paper. Curious to know more? You’ll have to wait until March to discover the rest of the details, so be sure to sign up for email updates to find out!

Art & Nature Adventures Are Coming!

Fantastic news – I just received THRIVE funding from the Metro Arts Commission for Art & Nature Adventures, a series of programs I’m developing in connection with the Bellevue and Richland Park Branches of the Nashville Public Library; I’ll have more details to share about this next month!

This is a closeup of an amazing sassafras tree I saw in the Hill Forest – it’s the inspiration for my entry in an upcoming show to benefit Warner Parks; it opens March 31st, so mark your calendar!
