ANSWER TO MYSTERY TECHNIQUE #29: First I painted the paper with a wet violet mixture, leaving some patches of white paper.  After it dried, I used a toothbrush to spatter layers of blue, violet and red-violet.

ANSWER TO MYSTERY TECHNIQUE #28: First I wet the paper and mixed yellow and blue directly on the surface; while it was still wet, I place a piece of cheesecloth into the paint. After it dried, I removed the cheesecloth, which left an imprint. Next I used an erasing shield as a template to remove some of the green with a magic eraser. After the paper dried again, I added blue to some of the shapes.
