ANSWER TO MYSTERY TECHNIQUE #7: Several layers of almost dry paint were applied on dry paper with a flat brush.

ANSWER TO MYSTERY TECHNIQUE #6: Large amounts of water were applied to the paper, which caused it to form hills and valleys. Liquid paint was then dropped into the valleys and allowed to evaporate, creating striations.
