Mystery Technique #16

I used an unusual tool to paint this; check back next month to find out the answer.

ANSWER TO MYSTERY TECHNIQUE #15: This is one of my samples from my Shakerag workshop with Dolph Smith. First I used PVA to adhere crumbled brown paper to a piece of mat board. After it dried, I applied 3 separate layers of milk paint: red, black and blue. After the blue dried, I lightly sanded it to reveal hints of the colors underneath.

ANSWER TO MYSTERY TECHNIQUE #14: This is a mixture of graphite powder and shellac. First I brushed the mixture onto mat board and then used a brush to drip on small globs. After they dried, I added another layer of drips. When these dried, I polished it with a towel to bring out the sheen in places.
